Maria Bamford
Which comedian did Judd Apatow tell the L.A. Times he thinks is
hysterically funny? What entertainer starred in Target’s Black Friday
ad campaign two years in a row? Whose cult hit web series is being
displayed at the Museum of Art and Design in New York? Which
comic’s CD was named one of the best comedy albums of the year by
Amazon.com and one of the best comedy albums of the decade by The AV Club? Maria Bamford! That’s Who!

Maria started her performing arts career in Duluth, Minnesota at the age of 11 where she starred in the Chester Park Elementary production of How the West Was REALLY Won! A short 24 years of self-discovery and secretarial work later and look at her now! Maria is the first female comic to have two half-hour Comedy Central Presents specials. She starred in the Comedy Central series, The Comedians of Comedy and Netflix’s Comedians of Comedy: The Movie. She has made multiple late-night appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Late Night with Conan O’Brien and Jimmy Kimmel Live, as well as not-so-late appearances on John Oliver’s New York Stand Up Show, Premium Blend, Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn and The World Comedy Tour: Melbourne 2003. Maria appeared regularly on Adult Swim’s Tim and Eric: Awesome Show and guest starred on The Sarah Silverman Program on Comedy Central.

Maria currently contributes comedic voiceovers for such animations as
Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time, Disney Channel’s Kick Buttowski,
Nickelodeon’s Kung Fu Panda, PBS’s Emmy-winning series Word Girl and the upcoming Tight Bros for Adult Swim. She was also a regular voice on Nickelodeon’s CatDog and Back at the Barnyard (in which she reprised the role of “Mrs. Beady” from the Nick feature Barnyard).

Maria’s writing has been featured in The Onion, The Melbourne
Age, and LA Weekly. Her CD, Unwanted Thoughts Syndrome, is
available on Comedy Central Records and features a bonus DVD of her web series The Maria Bamford Show.

Jackie Kashian
Jackie Kashian has a half-hour special on Comedy Central and has appeared on CBS, NBC, and the Nationally syndicated Radio/TV show Bob And Tom. She has been a national touring comic for over 14 years and has performed at the HBO Comedy Arts Festival, the Bumbershoot Arts Festival in Seattle, Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal and has toured Australia for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow. This year she travelled to Kuwait and Iraq and performed for the troops.

You should already be familiar with James Draper and Zach Smith, two very funny OKC comedians.

Doug Benson:
It would take too long to cite all of his credits, but here’s a small sampling: He has his own documentary called Super High Me based on a joke from his standup act. It’s available on DVD! How does a little show called NBC’s Last Comic Standing grab you? Fact: he finished top six in the 2007 season, no big deal. Doug was a series regular on four seasons of VH-1’s Best Week Ever. He makes recurring appearances on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live.Jimmy Kimmel Live. His second Comedy Central Presents half-hour special premiered in January ’09. He had the nerve to hit on Jennifer Aniston on the classic sitcom Friends, is a character on The Sarah Silverman Program, and oops, almost forgot, got Larry David in a headlock on HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm. If that’s not enough for you, he’s a creator/writer/star of The Marijuana-Logues, a show that’s been a hit (small pun intended) in clubs and theatres from Los Angeles to New York – and drew a bongload of rave reviews. Now there’s a CD, also called The Marijuana-Logues, and a book, The Marijuana-Logues: Everything About Pot That We Could Remember. In 2006, High Times Magazine named him Stoner of the Year, and in 2009, he successfully made it to all the shows in his thirteen-day Medical Marijuana Tour. Now Doug has two CD’s out on Comedy Central Records, Unbalanced Load and Hypocritical Oaf, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Comedy Chart. He continues to express his love of movies on his Doug Loves Movies podcasts (available on iTunes). And Doug’s long-running live show, The Benson Interruption, was recently a series broadcast on Comedy Central. Enough about Doug Benson already!

Graham Elwood:
Graham has been a stand-up comic for over 10 years working comedy clubs, colleges, TV shows, Holiday Inn Lounges, war zones, dive bars, and one time on the top of a double decker tour bus in Chicago. (not joking)You’ve probably seen him on the TV like when he hosted the socially relevant game shows “Cram” (GSN) and “Strip Poker” (USA). Along with making the world a better place by appearing on shows like “Best Bodies Ever” on VH1. Don’t forget the time when he told jokes on “The Late Late Show” (CBS). Also has starred in the theatrical plays Speed the Plow, Light Sensitive, Cash Flow and co-wrote the one act play Brothers.

You should already be familiar with BradChad Porter and Cameron Buchholtz who are both local, very funny comedians.

Just a quick note to readers

June 1, 2010

The time that it takes to manage this blog is overwhelming to me. It’s not that it’s too demanding to be clever or otherwise entertain. It is that I am kinda dumb, and I don’t have enough to say. I truly believe that I’m a tiny little bit slow. (e.g. retarded, challenged) I don’t mean that as a euphemism. I really think that it takes me longer to figure things out than it does everyone else. I haven’t been diagnosed with anything, but in my heart I know it’s true. With that in mind, I’ve thought long and hard about this, and I’ve decided that CrapHouse Central will be a monthly blog. Please continue to enjoy my bullshit.

Here’s a picture of a Bunny.

I’ll be spending some time in Chicago & then working on some very time consuming projects. So, thank you for reading & we’ll talk again in June!
